San Juan Inaugurates New International Airport Terminal

The province of San Juan has marked a milestone in its air connectivity with the formal inauguration of the passenger terminal at its international airport, following the completion of an ambitious comprehensive modernization project. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, the works required a total investment of $55 million, consolidating the terminal as a node of excellence capable of handling the sustained growth in passenger demand and the opening of new air routes. The renewed airport, now with a total area of 5,396 m², operates with state-of-the-art technology and significant improvements to the user experience, offering: Operational Infrastructure: 12 check-in counters, 2 baggage carousels, and 2 boarding bridges. Passenger Services: 12 commercial shops and 4 food and beverage outlets, including the Raizal restaurant, which prioritizes local raw materials (olive oil and grapes). Comfort and Security: 265 parking spaces and a building designed to the highest construction standards, adapted to the seismic hazard level 4 requirements of the area. The inaugural ceremony was attended by key figures from the public and private sectors, reflecting the strategic alliance necessary for this type of venture. Currently, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Flybondi operate regular flights to Ezeiza and Aeroparque, with additional non-regular flights to destinations such as Rosario, Mar del Plata, and Córdoba. The new airport infrastructure is fully prepared to accompany the economic, tourist, and connectivity expansion of the province, offering all users a more comfortable, secure, and efficient experience. "For Aeropuertos Argentina, it is a huge pride to be able to inaugurate a new passenger terminal, modern, with better services, and with the capacity to boost all the wealth that the province has in terms of tourism, commerce, and services. And for this, the joint work between the public and private sectors is fundamental," Ketchibachian emphasized. Governor Orrego expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project, stating that now "we have the opportunity to say that we truly have a first-class airport, in a province that has enormous opportunities. This investment demonstrates the interest of our company in guaranteeing the necessary infrastructure so that airports can contribute to the growth of passengers and the interest of airlines in establishing new routes or increasing frequencies. I am very happy to see this project become a reality... It's a tangible dream." Project Scope and Functionality The renovation was carried out in two crucial stages, ensuring operational continuity while the new terminal was being built: First Stage (completed in June 2023): Focused on constructing 50% of the building, covering the new Departures Hall, the check-in area, the national boarding lounge, and the first commercial and food outlets. Second Stage (Completion): Involved adding the new Arrivals Hall, the baggage claim area (domestic and international), the new Migration area, International Boarding, two new boarding gates, and a new jet bridge. In the period from January to November 2025, 183,444 passengers have passed through its facilities, representing an increase of 8.88% compared to the same period in 2024.
